The Work that Brought Us Here
About Our Founder
I’m Channyn Quinn, LMHC, They/She— a licensed mental health counselor, supervisor, and advocate whose work centers the healing and empowerment of queer, trans, and BI-POC communities. My path as a therapist is deeply grounded in community care, mutual aid, and anti-oppressive practice.
In my early years, I volunteered with several Rochester organizations dedicated to justice and compassion — including the Gay Alliance of the Genesee Valley (now Out Alliance), where I supported LGBTQIA+ advocacy and education; Rochester Food Not Bombs, where I cooked, shared meals and built solidarity with unhoused and low-income neighbors; Rochester Rape Crisis Service, where I supported survivors through trauma response and crisis work; and the Rochester School for the Deaf, where I helped foster inclusive communication and accessibility.
These early experiences shaped my belief that healing is both individual and collective — and that mental health care must always be rooted in equity, dignity, and connection.
Building Queer-Affirming Spaces
During my early clinical career at Mind, Body, and Soul Counseling, I founded The Queer Wellness Center, a space created to provide affirming, accessible therapy and wellness resources for LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Building on that foundation, I later launched Inclusive Insights Counseling PLLC, expanding this vision into a group practice devoted to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and justice-oriented care for marginalized communities. My goal has always been to cultivate spaces where both clinicians and clients can show up as their full selves — with compassion, curiosity, and care.
Clinical Philosophy & Training
My clinical work is informed by extensive training in intersectionality, systemic oppression, and collective trauma, including:
“Becoming an Antiracist and Anti-Oppressive Clinician” — Drs. Han Ren & Raquel Martin (Oct 9 2025)
Indigenous Psychotherapy™ (IP) Certification in Anti-Racist, Culturally Competent Treatment (ARCCT) for Black Families — Maisha Davis, LCSW-C
These trainings reinforce my lifelong commitment to decolonizing mental health, advancing anti-oppressive clinical practice, and centering the lived experiences of those navigating identity, belonging, and resilience.
Community Recognition
In July 2024, The Queer Wellness Center was honored by the City of Rochester for its transformative impact on the LGBTQIA+ community.
This recognition remains deeply meaningful to me — not as a personal milestone, but as a reflection of the collective work being done to build spaces where queer and marginalized individuals can heal, connect, and thrive through authenticity, mutual care, and joy.
